The intellectual entirety of the Tea Party movement in one screencap

Cue the fail at the Teabagger Convention: Here's cover girl Sarah Palin, after banking 100 large to give a speech slamming overspending and greed, answering one of the pre-screened questions by looking at notes written on her hand.

As a number of folks have already remarked, most of us were a little more subtle about this kind of cheating in junior high school, for chrissakes. And 53% of Republicans think she's more qualified to sit in the White House than Obama!? Look, whatever you think of the man's policies, he's definitely not a complete paste-eating chowderhead. I knew this country was into breeding the stupid, but I'm always astounded at how polluted the gene pool has really gotten.

  1. Well, golly gee doncha know? It's just so goshdarn hard to remember all that stuff!!! What with takin' care of track and trig and calc and all them! you betcha!

  2. I missed that. My head went asplodey when she said a conservative House and Senate would rein in spending.

I take it she wasn't paying attention during the Reagan years. Or the Bush years. Or the Dubya years.

  3. Did any of you actually listen to her speech? She can't even read very well... and it is clear that she doesn't quite understand what she is saying as she's reading it off her notes or the teleprompter. She gives speeches like non-English speaking kids sing karaoke... like she memorized the words phonetically, and has no clue what they really mean.

  4. Difference between USSR Communist media and USA "mainstream media"

In Russia government make media say what they want - even if lie.

In USA "mainstream media" try make government what they want - even if lie..

    .....eventually they become same thing?!

Old Russian saying You can tell same lie 1000 time but not change truth!

I Igor produce Obama Birth Certificate at www.igormarxo.org

Compare Obama Care vs Igor Care at Obama Care vs Igor Care

    Salute Ms Sarah!!!

Only someone trying to sodomize America would call these people "teabaggers"

  5. You can always count on Sister Sarah for the next stop on the race to the bottom...

  6. She can see Russia from her house but she can't read a bloody teleprompter.

  7. I don't know who said this, but there is a saying "Empire don't fall, they commit suicide". An editorial was mentioning it recently talking about the US and Bush's time as a president. It could easily be applied for Sarah Palin. She is not only unqualified to become president, she was unqualified to be mayor of Wasilla.

  8. Is there video of this? In this low-res frame it looks like she is just reading off a card in her hand. Seems to me to be a bit reactionary, unless you know of definitive sources that said she was actually reading off her palm. I didn't see any links, so...?

  9. I just saw some better images that clearly show, from an unbelievably hilarious stance, words written on her hand. Unless the images were Photoshopped, it looks like the real deal!

  10. i still find it funny the she had to have the word 'nuclear' written as 'new clear' on her teleprompter..

  11. Hilarious.
The best part is that she makes fun of Obamas use of teleprompters (even though she used them regularly too...and then reads from her palm in the same interview.

No wait, the best part is idiots on youtube defending her.

  12. There is no defense for this. Period. The Republican Party saw a bunch of people pissed off at government over taxation and waste and decided to hijack a legit movement for political reasons, perhaps in an attempt to emulate the Democrats takeover of the anti-war movement that they rode back to power in 2006.

This is just a shame, and what makes me even more pissed is that people are falling for it.

  13. What the **** are you all smoking?

This is a positive event in terms of her image. SHE CAN READ!

I didn't think she was literate.

    +1 Palin.

  14. And the question she flubbed and had to consult palmistry for...

What are the top three priorities once there's a conservative president and congress!

That's kind of one to know off the top of your head, but it also tips the hand of the teabagger "movement." Their priorities are "taxes, and...um...uh...taxes...HEY LOOK A MONKEY!

  15. "The Republican Party saw a bunch of people pissed off at government over taxation and waste and decided to hijack a legit movement for political reasons"

Are we talking about the same Tea bagger movement? The one with their 9-12 day and breaking into senator's offices?

  16. So, like a D&D Barbarian, we should be impressed that she spent the extra feat so she could get all caught up with the rest of us while my Ranger has Improved Initiative?

    GET REAL!

According to the tea party they also want to abolish the department of education. It's one of their major issues.

    "

    Its even worse.
She not only had to write down HER OWN top 3 prioritys... She had to write down her 3 prioritys SHE KNEW SHE WOULD BE ASKED ABOUT. It was a pre screened/agreed question. Thats why she was asked 3 priortys, and thats why she had 3 on her hand.

    It really boggles the mind.
Thats like having to write down your favorite color for an interview you pre-discussed and knew you would be asked about your favorite color.

How are those her top prioritys if she can't remember them even after being told "we will discuss your top 3 prioritys" beforehand.

    arggghh mind explodes

Interviewer: "Stop! Who approacheth the Tea Party Convention must answer me these questions three, ere the other side she see!"
Sarah: "Ask me the questions, bridgekeeper. I'm not afraid."
    Bridgekeeper: "What... is your name?"
    Sarah: "Lady Sarah of Wasilla."
    Bridgekeeper: "What... is your quest?"
Sarah: "I seek the presidency of the United States."
Bridgekeeper: "What... is your favorite color?"
    Sarah: "Blue. No, yel-- auuuuuuuugh!"

  20. She turned me into a newt!

    I got better...

  21. This is sort of the last straw for me. Up until now I could live in a world with this woman. But now my head is about to explode from bewilderment that (a) she's even dumber than I thought, and (b) this won't do anything to diminish support for her among certain groups.

I'll bet she had "Smile" and "Breathe" written on the other hand.

  22. We keep saying it and yet we never quite believe it, no matter how many times they prove it.
No matter how low we set the bar, they'll manage to slip under it.

    Literally, NO MATTER HOW LOW!

There is no such thing as a person too stupid to be a spokesperson for the religious right.

I'm not really surprised that she had to write notes on her hand to remember her opinions.
What surprises me is that there's no one in the Republican party who's able to kick her to the curb.

Surely, any half-way rational person would realize that Palin is a Seal of Doom for any party. Have the entire GOP top been taken over by nitwits? Are there no intelligent people left?

I wonder how long we have to wait before they try to run a retarded (literally retarded) candidate and then accuse anyone who doesn't vote for him/her of being discriminatory.

    You know it's gonna happen.

  23. Lukas:

Those at the top are quite familiar with the concept of "useful idiots".

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okay, was that seriously the question for which she needed to write down her responses?

    ....

Can someone please, please, help me out here. Explain to me how someone so incredibly useless can get paid 100K for a speaking engagement, and possibly run for president, after all of the stupid, stupid things she has said, and even now after this, people will continue to take her seriously.

What must one do to lose credibility anymore? It used to be that people had integrity, and were qualified for the positions they were running for (and even if they didn't, and weren't, they knew how to hide it).

Now......ya, I don't understand it. You can be a war criminal and still get paid huge money for speaking engagements, rather than be placed in jail like you should be (Bush), you can be a complete and utter dolt, still get paid for speaking engagements, get hired to work for a news channel (if you can call it that) and possibly run for US presidencey (Palin).

What the **** is going on down there?

How did we get this far? We have free speech on trial in Amsterdam, we have this woman who:

    1) Doesn't know her own policies

    2) Still fails prescreened questions

    3) Tried to ban books

    4) Thinks foreign policy consists of proximity and visibility

    etc etc etc

And somehow, rather than be made a laughing stock, she:

    1) Has a million plus selling book

    2) Gets paid 100 thousand dollars to speak to disenfranchised people about greed

    3) Was a presidential running mate

    4) May be running for presidency in 2 years

    etc etc etc.

It hurts. It honestly hurts. I'm only 28, and I can honestly say I sometimes feel like I might as well give up, it's over. This is one of those times.

Am I the only one who gets nostalgic for time periods in which he did not even live? I see images and video of the arly 20th century, and I wish I was there....but, yes, I am aware of the rose tinted glasses thing. I know the folly of the ''sinking ship'' view of the current generation.

    It's just so hard sometimes......

  25. I almost wonder whether Palin's ascent is some right-wing conspiracy to dumb down rhetoric because their policies can't stand up logically. But maybe the GOP and their voters really are as stupid as she is.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Curse John McCain for foisting her on the American political scene!

Jon Stewart called it right, she's a grifter.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In the sake of fair rhetoric I have to say that I contest Bush being a war criminal. At MOST he could only be called an alleged war criminal.
