You can't make this stuff up!

Latest nugget of 40-carat irony from the irrational world (emphasis added):

A woman accidentally stabbed herself in the foot with a 3-foot-long sword while performing a Wiccan good luck ritual at a cemetery in central Indiana.

Better luck next time...

  1. Check out what Tanzania's "witchdoctors" are doing to those of the popualtion that are albino. The BBC recently made a report on this.

  3. Once again, The Atheist Experience shows it's characteristic selective bigotry. You people are always spewing bile at Wiccans 'cause you know we're so peaceful and gentle and none of us would harm you. I don't see you throwing your hateful comments at other pagan religions. Why don't you start bashing the crazy Zoroastrians, huh? They're the real threat!!! Leave us decent, Goddess-fearing people alone!.

P.S.: Also, to you and your little buddy Dillahunty, how about I come down there and punch you in the face for Gaia?.

  4. It's easy to be smug about such nonsense, but lets at least recognize that her mistake was small and only hurt herself. Wicca, in general, is hopelessly deluded in so many ways, but at least they are a pacifistic group by nature. There are other religions, however, that cause pain through actions that are neither accidents nor limited to themselves or their followers.

We can laugh at her, but she could as easily have dropped a kitchen knife while cooking. It's a far cry from denying condoms to thousands of people in Africa at risk from AIDS or crying "Allah hu ackbar!" from the cockpit of a jumbo jet.

  5. And what I've learned from doing Atheist Eve is that if you did make it up, you'd be accused of portraying strawmen, because no true Xian (or in this case Wiccan) would ever do/say anything of the sort.

  6. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Maybe this will become a new part of the ritual. I mean, if she or others at the ritual have a good couple of weeks following this, then clearly that's evidence that someone stabbing themselves in the foot during the ritual improves the efficacy of the ritual, right? I mean, that's like scientific!

  7. At least they took her to the hospital instead of trying to do healing magic.

  8. adrael for the win! I wonder if any Christians would get it, even regular viewers of the TV show?

  9. I agree.
    adrael wins the thread.

p.s. send your Avesta to the Atheist Experience or PZ, and demand desecration.
