Those guys scare the living shit out of me. I know I've said it before but it doesn't fully sink in that there are really people like that until you see them in person.
Dan Savage had the best line about this I've heard so far in his column about this fantastic little circle-jerk:
"And I had no idea that Falwell was wrapped up in Free-Willism. You think you know a guy, huh? You get a good hate going and then you find out he had a soft spot for killer whales. Sure makes you think."
