So is...Under the Banner of Heaven is a great book. So is "Leaving the Saints". "God's Brothel" is a horrifying, but intense, look at the underbelly of the LDS Church.

As for the fundamentalists like Jeffs, I would recommend reading "The Polygamists" by Benjamine Bisline(?).

I'm so glad that Jeffs got nailed!! I hope they put him in a cell with a 250lb, gay, Vegas Loan Shark. Although, I've heard that Jeffs is into that kind of stuff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33241741.post-1156894520198972602006-08-29T18:35:00.000-05:002006-08-29T18:35:00.000-05:00I recently finished reading Under the Banner of He...I recently finished reading Under the Banner of Heaven and recommend it highly as I recommend all of Krakauer's books. Mormons are wierd but, the fundamentalist mormons are just plain evil and belong in prison.

http://www.amazon.com/Under-Banner-Heaven-A/dp/1400032806/sr=8-1/qid=1156893842/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-2403125-5082536?ie=UTF8
Amazon.com
In 1984, Ron and Dan Lafferty murdered the wife and infant daughter of their younger brother Allen. The crimes were noteworthy not merely for their brutality but for the brothers' claim that they were acting on direct orders from God. In Under the Banner of Heaven, Jon Krakauer tells the story of the killers and their crime but also explores the shadowy world of Mormon fundamentalism from which the two emerged. The Mormon Church was founded, in part, on the idea that true believers could speak directly with God.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
